Stocks at the limit: Stoltenberg called on NATO countries to increase the production of weapons

The North Atlantic Alliance has exhausted a large part of its stockpiles of weapons and ammunition, so it is necessary to increase their production. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in an interview with the Canadian СВС TV channel.

NATO, as Stoltenberg says, should activate its military potential to support Ukraine in the long term.

The countries of the Alliance have exhausted most of their stocks of weapons and ammunition, so it is necessary to work with industry and increase production, the Secretary General continued.

Strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, in his opinion, will cost the West high energy prices and other economic consequences.

"We must remember that the price we pay is measured in money. And the price Ukraine pays in life and blood every day. We are obliged to support them," Stoltenberg stressed.

According to him, the goal of NATO countries is to increase spending on defense - by 2024, each country is obliged to give 2% of GDP.

"I cannot say what exactly the allies will decide on defense spending commitments for the next 10 years. We are now finalizing the commitments made in 2014 until 2024," he noted.
