NATO admits that Russia is not planning to invade Ukraine - Euractiv

The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) admits that Russia is not planning an invasion of Ukraine. This is because an invasion requires the pulling in of much more troops.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Euractiv.

"To invade such a large country with such armed forces, you need military capabilities different from those currently deployed," the publication's source in NATO noted.

According to him, NATO has no right to intervene militarily because Ukraine is not a member of the alliance. But things would be different if any of the NATO countries were attacked.

"If Russia made the mistake of attacking a NATO member state, we would have World War III," the source stressed.

He also added that Ukraine is a partner with increased capabilities, which means that NATO has certain moral obligations, including sanctions against Russia in case of invasion.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov spoke earlier about the arms situation amid the threat of Russian invasion. According to him, there are now more anti-tank weapons than potential targets.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said today that Moscow does not want war, but "will not allow its interests to be ignored."
