Italy stopped the process of transferring the sixth package of military aid to Ukraine. However, the solution is temporary. This was reported by the Italian publication Il Messaggero.
Sources from the Italian Ministry of Defense said in a comment to the media that the decree on the allocation of aid is not being considered yet. However, interlocutors in the government say that Italy's position on Ukraine will not change. The country will continue to support the Ukrainian army.
"Italy will continue to support Kyiv militarily as well. Peace is achieved due to the fact that Ukraine can defend itself," the interlocutor said.
At the same time, the reason for delays in the supply of weapons is called the procedure for coordinating the package with NATO.
"Only and only because it is necessary to first agree with NATO and study Ukraine's military requests in detail. Only then will we understand what Kyiv needs and what kind of weapons we can supply," added sources in the government.
It is noted that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltengberg will visit Rome in the coming days. He will hold a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloni and Defense Minister Guido Crozetto.
