On October 11, the European Commission placed bonds, the funds of which amount to 2 billion euros will be used to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the commission on Tuesday.
The Commission placed €5 billion of 7-year bonds maturing on December 4, 2029 and new €6 billion of 20-year bonds maturing on November 4, 2042. The funds raised will be used to support Ukraine within the framework of the macro-financial assistance program and the recovery of Europe within the framework of the NextGenerationEU program.
"EU funding is a concrete expression of solidarity with Ukraine and member states recovering from the pandemic. Today we have successfully and in difficult market conditions raised another 11 billion euros. Of these, 2 billion euros will be quickly released to help Ukraine in this war of aggression on European soil," commented Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration.
From the funds raised through the sale of 20-year bonds, 2 billion euros will be provided in the form of loans to Ukraine.
This will be the first tranche of the macro-financial assistance loan for a total amount of 5 billion euros, which was agreed on September 20.
