The opening ceremony of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year from Norway to Poland took place in Gdańsk. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the gas pipeline will put an end to the era of Russian dominance. This is reported by РАР.

 "Today we can say with full confidence that the era of Russian dominance in the gas sector is ending. An era marked by blackmail, threats and extortion," Moravetskyi said.

 According to him, a new era is beginning today. "The era of energy sovereignty, energy freedom and increased security - energy, but also security in the broader sense of the word," Moravetskyi said.

 The Baltic Pipe gas pipeline should create a new route for the supply of natural gas from Norway to the markets of Denmark and Poland, as well as to end consumers in neighboring countries. Its launch is scheduled for October 1, 2022. Investors are transmission operators: Danish Energinetn and Polish Gaz-System.

 The Polish oil and gas company PGNiG has already announced that it will import at least 6.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Norway in 2023 through the Baltic Pipe pipeline.

 PGNiG also said it will use 80% of the company's reserved pipeline capacity in 2023, rising to 90% in 2024, amounting to around 7.7 billion cubic meters.

 The pipeline with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters will provide Poland with alternative sources of gas, which it has been looking for since April, when supplies from Russia stopped.

 PGNiG said it has reserved about 8 billion cubic meters of pipeline capacity for its supplies.

 After negotiations with gas suppliers from the Norwegian continental shelf, PGNiG has sufficient resources to fully utilize the pipeline capacity available for 2022.
