People's deputies propose to the Council to establish restrictions on the appointment of the NABU director

A group of People's Deputies proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to establish restrictions on the appointment of the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The corresponding draft law No. 8001 was registered in the parliament on September 6, but its text is currently not available.

 The authors of this legislative initiative were the head of the "Servant of the People" faction David Arahamia, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko, the head of the committee on anti-corruption activities Anastasia Radina (the "Servant of the People" faction) and the head of the "Voice" faction Oleksandr Ustinov.

 At the same time, a member of the "Voice" faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, noted in his Telegram channel that according to the proposed changes to Chapter II of the Law "On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine", a person who, from February 24, 2022, was under within the borders of Ukraine for a total of more than 21 days as of the last day of receiving documents from persons applying to participate in the competition for this position.

 At the same time, the specified restriction will not apply to persons who were treated for more than the specified period as a result of injury, contusion, mutilation, illness related to the performance of military service duties, or were on a business trip in connection with the performance of tasks for the benefit of the national security and defense.
