Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine is served suspicion notice of misappropriation of state land

NABU has served a notice of suspicion to Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. He is suspected of misappropriating 2,500 hectares of agricultural land worth UAH 291 million ($7.3 million). This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in 2017-2021, he illegally seized state land in Sumy region worth UAH 291 million and tried to appropriate another 3,282 hectares of land worth about UAH 190 million.

Solskyi responded to the suspicion served on him by the NABU. In a message on Telegram, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food's press service said that those events relate to the period of 2017-2018, when Solskyi was still a lawyer, not a minister or chairman of the Rada's agriculture committee.

"The circumstances of seven years ago relate to a dispute between state-owned enterprises and individuals, including ATO soldiers, over land granted to the latter in possession in accordance with the law. Disputes are resolved by the courts, in particular the Supreme Court, and as far as I know, a number of decisions state that state-owned enterprises have no right to the land that NABU is probably referring to," the statement said.

He said he would cooperate with the investigation.

It should be noted that Solskyi was a business partner of the former head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Bohdan.
