Russia has already ruled out discussing the "status" of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions

Russia says that it has no plans to discuss the so-called "status" of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in a new agreement with Ukraine. This issue is allegedly closed for Moscow, just like Crimea and Donbass.

This is reported by Izvestia.

"Moscow was ready to stop the special operation back in March during the negotiations of the delegations in Antalya. Then Ukraine itself offered neutral status and security guarantees without including Donbass and Crimea. Vladimir Putin was ready to take this step, but Ukraine was pressured by the West, and so Kiev withdrew its proposal," the Russian newspaper wrote.

They also added that it is now impossible to hold peace talks, allegedly until Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "decides to resume contacts at the level of negotiation groups."

As a reminder, it was previously reported that the occupiers intend to annex the Kherson region, as they did with Crimea before. However, they are not planning to hold "referendums" yet.
