Poland has refused from the Russian gas and decided to terminate the supply agreement ahead of time. This was announced by the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland, Anna Moskva.
"Poland is denouncing the 1993 intergovernmental gas agreement on Yamal. Russia's aggression against Ukraine confirmed the Polish government's determination to become fully independent of Russian gas. "We have always known that Gazprom is not a reliable partner," Anna wrote.
The agreement to build a gas pipeline system to transit Russian gas through Poland and supply Russian gas to Poland, which was signed in Warsaw on August 25, 1993, was torn apart.
The agreement has been extended several times, the last protocol on introducing amendments was signed between Polish and Russian representatives on October 29, 2010.
On May 5, the Poland-Lithuania gas pipeline was opened at the Jauniunai gas compressor station in Lithuania.
