Moldova will not provide military assistance to Ukraine - Prime Minister

Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa said that Chisinau could not provide Kyiv with military assistance, according to UP.

At a press conference on Monday, she did not comment on information that appeared in the Ukrainian media that Moldova refused to give Ukraine six MiG-29 fighter jets, which were left in the republic since Soviet times.

"Moldova supports Ukraine and its citizens... in a different way - by accepting refugees, providing humanitarian aid, complying with all international sanctions in the banking and financial sector," Gavrilitsa said.

"And now more than 90 thousand refugees from Ukraine remain in Moldova, we provide them with all necessary assistance. As for military assistance, there are countries that are much better equipped (with military equipment) and developed countries that have the economic and energy capacity to provide such assistance," Gavrilita said.

At the same time, the prime minister did not answer the journalist's direct question as to whether Kiev had requested the transfer of fighter jets or not.
