Occupiers took the humanitarian convoy to Melitopol, including cargo and vehicles - the mayor

Russian troops prevented a Ukrainian humanitarian convoy from entering occupied Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Region and stole all the cargo and vehicles, Melitopol mayor Ivan Fedorov has said.

"Threatening the drivers, they brazenly took all the buses and trucks with humanitarian cargo to themselves. This means that Melitopol residents and residents of the district will not only not receive vital aid - medicines for the seriously ill, food and hygiene products, which are no longer available in the city. People will not be able to leave Melitopol!", Fedorov wrote Friday morning.

He noted that the guarantor for humanitarian corridors is the International Committee of the Red Cross, which has accepted written assurances from both sides of their intentions to provide a humanitarian corridor. "Russia has assured. On paper. However, as we can see, their assurances have not been fulfilled. The case with humanitarian aid for Melitopol is a vivid example for the entire civilized world that Russia's promises, even to international organizations, are worthless," the mayor stressed.

At the same time, Fedorov added that "we will not stop and will continue to fight for our native Melitopol region.
