European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's murders of Ukrainian civilians by the Russian military in Bucha, the EU is ready to send joint investigation teams to document war crimes.
"I spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the brutal killings of civilians in Bucha and other places in Ukraine. The EU is ready to send joint investigation teams to document war crimes in coordination with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Europol and Eurojust will support," she wrote on Twitter.
According to a statement on the European Commission's website, the EU has set up a joint investigation team with Ukraine to gather evidence and investigate war crimes and crimes against humanity.
"A global response is needed. There are talks between Eurojust and the International Criminal Court about joining forces and making the Court part of the Joint Investigative Group," the statement said.
The president of the European Commission also said that she had instructed EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders to contact the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
The Commission will provide all necessary technical and financial support for all EU-led investigations.
