Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on energy supplier states, in particular the State of Qatar, to increase energy production in order to deprive Russia of opportunities for energy blackmail and thus contribute to the stabilization of the situation in Europe. He said this during a speech in the format of a video conference at Doha Forum-2022, reports the official website of the President of Ukraine.
"The theme of the current forum in the beautiful, peaceful and respectful of every city of Doha are the challenges for a new era. But, unfortunately, not everyone on our planet perceives the reality adequately and understands that it is necessary to prepare for new times. Russia, as we see it, wants the times when peaceful coexistence of the nations on the earth as equals was impossible. Can we allow it? - The Head of the Ukrainian state addressed the participants of the event.
He stressed that Ukraine after a full-scale attack of Russia, which is 28 times bigger, defends itself on the battlefield and cannot find justice in the world for already 31 days. Russia, on the other hand, threatens to use nuclear weapons, spreading this fear on the planet and "staggering that it can destroy with nuclear weapons not only this or that nation, but life on earth in general".
Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need for real reform of international institutions and mechanisms of the UN, in order to ensure security. "So that the one who is 28 times bigger doesn't think that he can afford anything he wants. And that the nuclear status of the state does not serve him as a permit for any injustice against other states", - he noted.
As the President noted, Ukraine is a country of diversity and peaceful coexistence of ethnicities and religions. More than a million Muslims live in our country, who are now also suffering from Russian bombardment.
"In 31 days of this war, Russian strikes damaged at least 59 buildings of spiritual significance. Mosques, churches, religious educational institutions. More than 200 schools destroyed or damaged. Dozens of hospitals. Russia does not even stop at bombing hospitals! Russian troops are also purposefully hitting the places that ordinary, ordinary civilians use as shelters," said the head of state.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, during the Russian invasion about 10 million people, mostly women with children, have already become migrants in Ukraine, more than 3.5 million Ukrainian citizens were forced to go abroad in search of safety.
And the migration crisis will be followed by a food crisis, the president noted. After all, Ukraine is one of the world's most important food exporters.
"Wheat, vegetable oil, corn and other agricultural products from our country are the basis of stability and internal security of many states in different regions of the world... Russian troops are bypassing fields in Ukraine, undermining agricultural equipment, destroying fuel supplies that are needed for the sowing season. They have blockaded our seaports. Why are they doing this? Our nation has enough food.But the lack of exports from Ukraine will hit many peoples in the Islamic world, Latin America and other parts of the planet. Where some invaders still dream of going in order to reinforce their old privileges", - stressed Volodymyr Zelensky.
He called to unite efforts to prevent food shortages in the world because of this war. In particular, by tightening the sanctions policy against Russia.
"All the restrictions imposed on Russia are aimed only at one thing: for Russia to start looking for peace, so that it does not create global threats. I call on all states to join in this. Russia must seek peace. Must stop the war against Ukraine. Must stop any attempts to break global stability and bring back to the world the old disgusting habits of those who sought colonies and imposed inequality," said the head of state.
Also, in his opinion, the refusal of European countries to buy Russian oil and gas is only a matter of time.
"Responsible states, particularly the State of Qatar, are reliable and solid suppliers of energy resources. And they can contribute to the stabilization of the situation in Europe. Can do a lot to ensure that justice is restored. The future of Europe depends on your efforts! I urge you to increase the production of energy! So that Russia understands that no state should use energy resources as a weapon to blackmail the world," stressed the President.
Volodymyr Zelensky called together the entire anti-war coalition to work even harder so that Russia would seek peace.
"So that people in the world can really prepare for new times, for a new era. And not to think how to adapt to the return of the old horror: wars of conquest, famine and despair leading to uprisings," summed up the head of state.
