Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that after the war that Russia started in Ukraine, a global food crisis and political destabilization may come. He said this while speaking at the G7 summit.
"Ukrainian cities - Mariupol, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Akhtyrka and other cities - look like there has been a global disaster. So broken are they. The roads from these cities, through which people were rescued, resemble the set of a post-apocalyptic movie with hundreds of burned and shot cars," Zelensky said.
The president stressed that a global catastrophe had occurred.
"Russia has destroyed the global security architecture, dealt a powerful blow to international relations. But this is only the beginning. This war may be followed by a global food crisis. The longer there is no peace on Ukrainian soil, the less food the world market will receive from Ukraine. This means that many countries in Asia, Africa, and even Europe may have extreme problems with access to basic products and food prices. This will definitely end in political destabilization. Maybe this is also the goal of the Russian leadership? I don't know," Zelensky said.
