Evacuation from Izyum has not started due to continued shelling - Sinegubov

Explosions continue in the vicinity of Izyum, Kharkiv region, despite the Russian side's commitment to cease fire to evacuate the population in Lozovaya, head of the Kharkiv regional military administration Oleg Sinegubov said.

"Buses at the entrance to Izyum are still waiting. Now we cannot evacuate the population because of the explosions that are heard in the vicinity. Despite commitments from the Russian side, shelling continues," Sinegubov wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, negotiations mediated by the Red Cross are now taking place. "We hope to evacuate the population today and bring the humanitarian cargo that was collected in Kharkiv," Sinegubov wrote.

Earlier on March 9, Deputy Prime Minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk reported that agreement was reached with the Russian Federation on routes for the evacuation of civilians from a number of settlements, including from Izyum to Lozova, as well as an agreement on a cease-fire from 9:00 to 21:00 on Wednesday.
