Speaker of the SBGS: It cannot be ruled out that Russia will expand the combat zone in Kharkiv and Sumy regions

As of the morning of June 6, hostilities in Kharkiv region continues in the area of Liptsi and Vovchansk. At the same time, border guards do not rule out the expansion of the combat zone. This was stated by the representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko during a telethon.

“We see the actions that the enemy continues to take near the border with Ukraine. It can never be ruled out that he will or will be able to move or expand the combat zone to other areas. Including within Kharkiv region or even Sumy region,” he said.

At the same time, the spokesman emphasized that based on the information available now and what is happening in the Kharkiv region, the enemy does not have enough forces to achieve its strategic goal.

“So once again, we cannot rule out the possibility of expanding the combat zone on the border with the aggressor country. But at the moment, the fighting is ongoing only in two directions - the settlements of Liptsi and Vovchansk,” said Demchenko.

According to Demchenko, the situation on the border with Belarus is different - the military do not see any Russian forces on the territory of Belarus.

“But again, this direction remains threatening for us, given, in particular, where Russian troops came from at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Therefore, we also pay important attention to this area and continue to strengthen it both along the border and in the border areas,” he said.
