Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba attended a meeting of NATO foreign ministers on Friday where he urged his colleagues to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from turning Ukraine into Syria.
"We stand side by side to protect the security of Europe, the prosperity of Europe. Russia is trying to turn Ukraine into Syria. The tactics they are deploying are very similar to those they used in Syria. But we will not allow them to create a new Syria in the heart of Europe. We are ready to fight, we will continue to fight, but we need your help. If not, you will have to bear responsibility for the lives and suffering of Ukrainians who died because of the missile and bomb attacks of ruthless Russian pilots," the minister said in his address.
He said he had received messages from many foreign ministers over the past eight days asking if it was too late to help Ukraine with weapons.
"I am convinced that this war is developing in such a way that there will come a moment when you will want to provide us with everything, literally everything we will need to stop Putin from attacking you and turning life in Europe into a horror. I hope your continued help comes not too late," the diplomat added.
