President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that Western countries close the sky over Ukraine so that Russian missiles and air strikes would stop killing peaceful Ukrainians. He said this at a press conference for foreign journalists in Kiev.
"We want to introduce the closure of the skies, because specifically our people are being killed. This is happening from the territory of Belarus and from the territory of Russia. These missiles, bombs, Iskanders, planes, bombers are flying," the president said.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, he asked numerous world leaders, particularly President Biden, President Macron, Chancellor Scholz, to close the skies.
"I said: if you can't introduce a sky closure now, then give us a deadline - when. If you can't give the Ukrainians a deadline now, when will you introduce it, tell me how many people have to blow up? How many arms, legs, heads would it take to get through to you to shut this down? How many do you need? Tell me the number! I'll go, we'll count, and we'll wait until then," he said.
The president noted that if the West does not have the fortress to close the sky, it must provide combat aircraft, otherwise the Russian Federation "will reach the Berlin Wall."
