Nine people were killed and 37 wounded in Kharkiv as a result of Russian shelling, Mayor Igor Terekhov said.

"Just for today 37 wounded, of which 3 children. People came out, 4 people, came out of the bomb shelter to draw water and died. A family - two adults and three children - were burned alive in a car," he said in his video message.

In addition, another woman died in hospital, Terekhov said on the Kiev TV channel.

Also, 15 servicemen and 15 civilians were wounded to varying degrees of severity. Doctors are fighting for their lives.

The city continues to collect information about the dead and injured.
