Ukraine is applying for accession to the EU under a special procedure. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal in Facebook.
"Ukrainians proved long ago that we are all an integral part of the European community. It's time to put it on paper. Ukraine is applying for EU membership under a special procedure," Shmigal said.
According to the Prime Minister, to admit Ukraine to the European Union under the new special procedure yesterday after a conversation with his Ukrainian colleague, the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger proposed. "At night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a relevant conversation with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen," Shmygal reported.
"The actions of the invader received unprecedented resistance. Ukrainians have long ago made their civilizational choice. We expect that a decision will be made without delay. As the President noted, it is both possible and fair. We are grateful to our partners for their support. Everything will be Ukraine!" - he concluded.
As Zelensky said, Ukraine appeals to the European Union for the immediate accession of Ukraine.
