EU agrees on sanctions against Putin and Lavrov

The European Union plans to apply sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. A number of Western media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, wrote this on Friday.

The EU will reportedly formally approve sanctions on Friday that will cut off 70 percent of the Russian banking system from international financial markets and impose limits on the amount of money the Russian elite can hold in the EU.

Earlier, Radio Liberty correspondent Rickard Jozwiak reported that the relevant decision was approved today by EU ambassadors. According to him, it is about freezing assets - but not about visa bans.
