IMF mission starts in Ukraine

The International Monetary Fund mission begins on Wednesday, February 23, in the format of online discussion of the cooperation program with Ukraine against the backdrop of the Russian crisis. This is stated in a statement released today by IMF Resident Representative Vahram Stepanian.

"An IMF mission led by Ivanka Vladkova Hollar begins discussions with Ukrainian authorities today on the second revision of the IMF-backed program. The mission's meetings will be held online," IMF Resident Representative Vahram Stepanian said.

It should be noted that an 18-month Stand-By program with Ukraine in Stand-By format with access to $5 billion was approved on June 9, 2020 to support the balance of payments and budget as Ukrainian authorities struggle with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic shock. This program should consolidate previous achievements and advance Ukraine through important structural reforms to minimize key vulnerabilities.

The cooperation program has now been extended until the end of June 2022.
