The United States has in recent weeks called on Ukraine to do more to fight government corruption, linking it to further non-military support, including a diplomatic note. This was reported by the American TV channel CNN.


CNN's interlocutors emphasize that all types of American aid, except for military aid, may be at risk if Ukraine does not take additional measures to fight corruption.


"The message to the Ukrainians has always been that if any of these funds are appropriated, it will jeopardize all US aid to the country," one American official told the channel.


CNN also managed to learn about a diplomatic note of demarche sent by the US State Department. It states that Washington expects Ukraine to make further efforts in the fight against corruption and financial transparency in order to continue direct budget support.


According to CNN sources, the demarche also included the need for Ukraine to implement critical reforms within the framework of the International Monetary Fund program, in particular those related to the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
