Ukraine officially requested consultations on the Budapest Memorandum

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that he had sent a request to the UN Security Council member states based on the Budapest Memorandum demanding immediate consultations.

Kuleba said this on Twitter.

"On behalf of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent an official request on the basis of Article 6 of the Budapest Memorandum to the member states of the UN Security Council demanding immediate consultations on urgent actions to reduce tensions and practical steps to ensure the security of Ukraine," Kuleba said.

During his speech at the Munich Security Conference, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would initiate the consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum for the last time, and if they did not take place again or there were no concrete decisions on the security of Ukraine based on their results, she would have every right to consider that the Budapest Memorandum did not work and all package solutions 1994 were questioned.

Dmytro Kuleba explained that Ukraine would appeal to the Budapest Memorandum because it demands concrete decisions to ensure its security.
