The head of the European Parliament David Sassoli died on the night of January 11 at the age of 65. This was announced by his spokesman Roberto Quillo on Twitter.
"David Sassoli died at 01:15 (02:15 Kiev time) on January 11 in Aviano, Italy, where he was hospitalized. The date and time of the funeral will be announced in the next few hours," Quillo wrote.
Earlier, the European Parliament reported the hospitalization of David Sassoli with complications due to "immune system dysfunction." The politician had been in hospital in Italy since December 26.
