State-owned thermal power plants have coal reserves twice below the minimum allowable level, - Ministry of Energy

The coal reserves at state-owned thermal power plants of Centerenergo as of December 3 remain two times below the minimum allowable level.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of Energy.

In total, there are 123.2 thousand tons at three thermal power plants of the state company, while the minimum allowable 227.6 thousand tons. None of the state-owned thermal power plants has an actual stock of coal below the minimum required level.

The most critical situation is at the Uglegorskaya TPP. It has 21,000 tons, while the minimum allowable amount is 77,600 tons.

Zmievskaya TPP has 59.5 thousand tons out of the minimum required 99.4 thousand tons. Trypilska TPP has 42.7 thousand tons with the required 50.6 thousand tons.

We remind you that Centrenergo's state-owned thermal power plants have been operating with the minimum permissible equipment since September. Because of absence of coal, 13-14 power units out of 23 are idle. Another 6 are under repairs.

The downtime of Centrenergo state-owned thermal power plants was one of the reasons for the start of electricity imports from Belarus.

As it was reported earlier, the National Commission on Regulation of the Fuel and Energy Commission of Ukraine has appointed an unscheduled inspection of the state-owned company Centrenergo due to the lack of coal at its thermal power plants. The inspection will also affect private thermal power plants, where the coal situation is less critical.
