Rada has unblocked the signing of the law on oligarchs

The Ukrainian parliament has rejected 12 draft resolutions to cancel the vote on the law on oligarchs, which took place on 23 September. Now the parliament speaker and the president of Ukraine will be able to sign the document at the meeting on 19 October.

The draft resolutions on the cancellation of the voting were mainly submitted by the deputies of the European Solidarity faction. In particular, it was stated that the voting for the law on oligarchs was held with a gross violation of the procedural requirements because MPs were not given the floor to explain each of the amendments and proposals.

Also, one draft resolution was submitted by lawmakers from the Opposition Platform – For Life faction.

We should remind you that the law provides for the creation of a register of persons who have significant economic or political weight in public life (oligarchs), defines the procedure for including persons in the register and the consequences of such inclusion, and introduces a declaration by public servants of contacts with persons included in the said Register.
