Death of a pensioner as a result of shelling in Shostka: new tensions at the frontline

A pensioner who received shrapnel wounds in his own yard died as a result of Russian artillery shelling in Shostka district, Sumy region. The information was published in a Telegram message from the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office. 

 

 

According to the report, the Russians used methods of warfare prohibited by international law and shelled the civilian infrastructure of Seredyna-Buda in the Shostka district on June 4, 2024, at approximately 12:40 pm.


As a result of this attack, a 70-year-old local resident was seriously injured and died in his own yard.


The prosecutor's office, together with other law enforcement agencies, is recording the consequences of the shelling.


Currently, the Shostka District Prosecutor's Office is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the violation of laws and norms of international humanitarian law, accompanied by premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).


The criminal proceedings will be further transferred to the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy region.
