The Office of the President has abandoned the idea of “economic reservation”. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a source.
“Now the idea of economic reservation has been abandoned altogether, because the General Staff was categorically against it. But the $5 billion that will not go to the budget because of this must be covered by something. I think a tax increase will partially solve this problem,” said a source in the OP.
According to him, the General Staff has decided that “economic reservation” will not solve the problem with the lack of personnel, but will be perceived as an official payoff from mobilization and will only cause a negative reaction in the army.
However, Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the Rada's Finance Committee, believes that the issue of reservations and tax increases are not connected at all.
“There will be a tax increase in any case - there is no other source,” he said in a comment to the publication.
