President Volodymyr Zelensky has been asked not to contact NATO about Ukraine's accession to the Alliance this year. This was reported by The Telegraph.
According to the journalists, Germany and the USA openly warned against specific terms for Ukraine during the preparation for a two-day meeting in Washington dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Alliance.
“They are very skeptical about Ukraine's further progress toward full NATO membership this year,” the source told journalists.
The publication writes that the United States may not be as concerned as Germany. However, politicians worry about the threat posed by Russia to other NATO members. At the same time, Zelensky was asked not to demand the “impossible” from the Alliance and not to put pressure on partners.
However, according to journalists, NATO member countries will continue to support Ukraine and pursue a policy of the so-called “bridge” to the Alliance.
