Belgium is committed to providing Ukraine with 30 F-16 fighter jets by 2028, Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib has said, according to RTL.
She emphasized that the first aircraft should be delivered to Ukraine “by the end of this year.”
These commitments will be formalized in a security guarantee agreement to be signed by Ukraine and Belgium today.
The Belgian Ministry of Defense will also provide ammunition from its reserves to support the F-16s for Ukraine.
The minister believes that this support is necessary to prevent Russian leader Vladimir Putin's actions aimed at expanding Belgium's influence and security by protecting Europe's borders.
Earlier we reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will go to Belgium on Tuesday, May 28, as part of an official visit.
