Russian troops are building up their forces near the borders of Chernihiv and Sumy regions. This was reported by Colonel Ihor Prokhorenko, acting deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine - Ukrinform.
Prokhorenko noted that the situation in the Sumy direction is stable and under control, but Russia is increasing the formation of troops in the border areas to hinder the actions of Ukrainian forces.
According to him, in the Chernihiv direction, Russia is concentrating its actions on strengthening the grouping of troops and conducting air and artillery strikes against Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure.
He also noted that the situation in other directions remains stable, without sudden changes.
