Podolyak: Elections in Ukraine are possible only after martial law is lifted, and Zelensky should have a second term

Elections in Ukraine will be held only after the war with Russia is officially over. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President.

He claims that elections are possible only after the end of the war, which will be legally recorded, and the end of martial law in Ukraine. According to the politician, when “it becomes clear that there is no security threat and rockets are not flying every night in the cities, then it will be possible to call presidential and parliamentary elections.”

“I am a supporter of President Zelensky's second term, because a lot of programs that have been launched must be completed. And we are talking not only about those related to the war, but also those related to the transformation of the state system,” Podolyak said.

He clarified that it is about forming a land market, reducing bureaucracy, changing the law enforcement system and the system of attitudes towards corruption, and eliminating the oligarchy. The advisor is convinced that these reforms need to be “brought to a reasonable conclusion.”

“In addition, global processes have been launched that will mean Ukraine's integration into a completely different political, economic, and security space,” Podolyak said.

He explained that this refers, in particular, to negotiations on Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO, which need to be completed. He added that Zelensky himself will decide on his future political fate.
