Politico: Zelensky plans to visit France and Italy to ask NATO to shoot down Russian missiles

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky intends to attend events in Normandy in honor of the 80th anniversary of the landing of allied troops and the G7 meeting in Italy to “ask NATO to shoot down Russian missiles.” Politico reports, citing sources.

“Zelensky's plans are particularly noteworthy because he recently canceled trips abroad after Russia launched a major offensive in the city of Kharkiv. But Ukraine also desperately needs constant support and global attention, and this trip will give him time to meet with world leaders, including President Joe Biden,” the publication writes.

The publication's interlocutors said that Zelensky's plans may change. However, if everything goes according to plan, the president will ask for more support from the West and convince NATO to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, as the United States and Britain did during Iran's attack on Israel.

The publication notes that Zelensky will also demand that the United States and European countries seize Russian assets to help finance “Ukraine's defense and further reconstruction.”

Politico also claims that Zelensky plans to go to Italy for the G7 summit, which will take place on June 13-15.
