Draft law on childlessness tax is withdrawn

MP Serhiy Hryvko has withdrawn his scandalous draft law on childlessness tax, which we previously reported. This was stated by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

“No one is going to introduce any ‘demographic’ taxes. It will never happen,” Zheleznyak wrote on his Telegram channel. A little later, he added: “Well, at least it was quick. The author is withdrawing the law.”

Earlier, Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the Rada's Finance Committee, reacted to the draft law on the childlessness tax. He said that the bill “has no chance of being passed.”

“The childless tax existed at different times in Rome, fascist Italy, communist Poland, and, of course, in the USSR from 1941 to the very end of the empire. It was popularly called the egg tax, given the unequal tax status of women and men. Probably inspired by these historical examples, colleague Hryvko registered his resonant draft law... I answer everyone at the same time: no, there is no chance of its adoption,” Hetmantsev said.

It should be noted that Hryvko is known for registering “interesting” draft laws before.

For example, he registered an “esoteric” draft law in which he proposed to create a register of tarot readers, numerologists, yogis and other “spiritual masters” and to collect taxes from them.

He also registered a draft law on reducing the prison term of a prisoner for reading books.

In addition, Hryvko registered a draft law proposing to allow prisoners to generate electricity by pedaling bicycles in exchange for a reduced prison term.
