Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has decided not to attend the peace summit to be held in Switzerland. This was reported by CNN Brazil.
According to Brazilian diplomatic sources, Lula and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira decided that the delegation representing the country at the summit would not be headed by the president. However, it has not yet been decided who will fulfill this role.
CNN Brazil reports that, according to Lula and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “it makes no sense for the Brazilian leader to participate in a summit that does not involve the two conflicting parties.”
Also, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, will not participate in the Peace Summit. This was announced by his spokesman Vincent Magwenya to the Daily Maveric.
It is noted that Ramaphosa will not be able to attend “because of the post-election processes that will take place,” but it is possible that someone from the South African Cabinet of Ministers will be present.
