Blinken on negotiations with Russia: Ukraine should make its own decisions, not the USA or any other country

Ukraine should make its own decision on negotiations with Russia, not the United States or any other country. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a briefing in Kyiv.

“As for the negotiations, again, these decisions should be made by Ukraine, not the United States or any other country. So, if you imagine that if Putin showed any interest in seriously participating in the negotiations, I am sure that Ukrainians would respond to that. But Putin demonstrates the exact opposite every day,” Blinken said.

In addition, the American official expects that a security agreement between Ukraine and the United States could be signed within a few weeks.

“We have worked very well, productively with our teams. I think we will have the text very, very soon... I think we will be able to sign this agreement in a few weeks,” he said.

It is worth noting that the Russian president said in an interview with the Chinese media outlet Xinhua that they are “open to dialogue on Ukraine, but it should be negotiations that take into account the interests of all countries involved in this conflict, including our interests.”
