Ukraine is one step away from NATO invitation - Prime Minister Shmyhal

Ukraine is “one step away” from being invited to join NATO. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in an interview with the American CBC.

“Our army works in accordance with NATO standards. We have carried out all the necessary reforms, and now we are one step away from being invited,” the prime minister said.

According to him, Kyiv expects to receive a response to its accession application submitted in September 2022 at the NATO summit in Washington in July.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine would not receive an invitation to join the Alliance at the summer summit.
