Fitness for service: The Ministry of Defense has published a list of diseases

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has determined which diseases allow conscripts to serve and announced this in its order. According to the new information, each conscript can be recognized as:

  1. Unfit for service.
  2. Fully fit.
  3. Fit for service in various military units.


Examples of diseases that are allowed to serve include:

  • Residual changes after cured tuberculosis.
  • Chronic viral hepatitis with minor dysfunction.
  • Diseases associated with HIV and asymptomatic carriage.
  • Neoplasms in the phase of long-term stable remission after treatment.
  • Other diseases with minor dysfunctions.


It is also noted that some diseases are allowed to serve in support and medical units. This is an important step to harmonize the categories of fitness for service in accordance with the health status of conscripts.
