Ukraine will become a NATO member after the victory. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a visit to the National Defense University with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"We will be in NATO only when we win. I do not believe that we will be accepted into NATO during the war. For some of the NATO members, this is a risk, for others it is just skepticism. And, of course, the level of Ukraine, which is going through a full-scale war, I think that no one will raise the issue of compatibility with NATO, the level of the military," he said.
According to Zelensky, the issue of NATO is a matter of majority, which, in turn, is a political aspect. In this regard, to join, Ukraine must win the war."
He noted that "one of the reasons why this war is going on is because we were not in the Alliance before."
And Russia worked very hard with our current partners. They had a dialogue, they did everything they could to prevent Ukraine from being accepted not only into NATO, but also into the European Union, so that Ukraine simply did not develop. And that it should not be cut off from the influence of the Russian Federation. Therefore, in order to break away from this influence, we need to fence off our independence with the result of "victory," Zelensky said.
