Ukraine's Foreign Ministry is concerned about the aggravation of the situation in Georgia due to the scandalous law on foreign agents

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is concerned about the aggravation of the internal political situation in Georgia in connection with the consideration of the scandalous draft law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" in the country's parliament. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"We call on all interested parties to respect the right of Georgian citizens to peaceful protest and to seek a solution to the situation through constructive dialogue. Respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as the involvement of civil society in addressing socially important issues, are necessary conditions for building the European future of the country," the ministry emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the comments of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the threat of "Ukrainization," which the bill is allegedly aimed at, cause indignation.

"The use of our country's name in such a disrespectful context causes additional damage to Ukrainian-Georgian relations. Russification, not the mythical "Ukrainization," is a real threat to Georgia," the ministry added.

The ministry also notes that Ukraine is interested in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere in Georgia, has always strongly supported and continues to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.
