Ukraine faces electricity shortage: blackout schedules for business and industry are in place

Today, April 18, the power grid will experience a shortage of electricity almost throughout the day. Ukraine has received emergency assistance from allied transmission system operators, Ukrenergo reports.

From 18:00 to 22:00, power limitation schedules will be applied to business and industry. At the same time, the measures will not affect critical infrastructure facilities and defense companies.

In particular, restrictions continue to apply to household consumers in Kharkiv region.

"We ask all consumers to consume electricity carefully. And the industry is asked to maximize electricity imports and use alternative power sources, if available," the statement said.

Emergency repairs are underway at thermal power plants. At the same time, the operation of solar power plants is hampered by dense cloud cover in all regions.

"As of this morning, emergency assistance is also being provided by the transmission system operators of these countries (Romania, Poland and Slovakia)," the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine said.
