Ukraine is among the countries with the lowest level of fear of nuclear threat. This is evidenced by the results of an international survey conducted by the Gallup International Research Institute at the end of 2023.
According to the website of the Sociological Group Rating, which conducted the survey in Ukraine, there has been no significant decrease in the global fear of nuclear threat over the year. 2/5 of respondents now see a high risk of nuclear weapons use. Almost the same share of respondents assessed a moderate risk and only 14% did not see any risk.
In European countries, fewer respondents assess the threat of nuclear weapons use as high than in Asia, Africa and South America, where nuclear threat assessments are more pessimistic. In Europe, Italy, Portugal, and Romania are the most afraid of the nuclear threat, and in the world - Indonesia, Nigeria, Ecuador, Syria, and Argentina.
At the same time, in Ukraine, Iran, Pakistan, and Armenia, the highest percentage of respondents said there is no such risk.
In terms of age, the youngest group of respondents is the most pessimistic about the nuclear threat.
A total of 40,428 people were interviewed in 41 countries, about 1,000 in each country.
