The defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the current positions in the Avdiivka direction is facilitated by the terrain, as there is a cascade of reservoirs near the villages of Tonenke, Orlivka and Berdychi. This was stated by Dmytro Likhovyi, spokesman for the Tavria operational-strategic group.

"The terrain itself should contribute to the defense there: there is a cascade of reservoirs, and this was the chosen priority. Thus, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Avdiivka direction continue to conduct a defensive operation," said Likhovyi.

He noted that Russian troops were blocked on the outskirts of and on the approach to Orlivka. There, the Russians tried to break through the Ukrainian defense using artillery, mortars, aircraft and FPV drones.

"Not everything is as easy as it might seem for the enemy in this area - near the village of Orlivka Russian assault groups were blocked on the approach to the village or on its outskirts," said the spokesman.

At the same time, Anatoliy Nikitin, a junior sergeant of the battalion of unmanned aerial systems of the 3rd separate assault brigade, said in a commentary to the media that they have field fortifications, but they do not help against the guided aerial bombs that Russia is actively using to target Ukrainian soldiers' positions.
