Sullivan: US should not interfere in Ukrainian personnel decisions

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the United States should not interfere in personnel decisions in the Ukrainian army amid reports of the possible dismissal of the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Sullivan said this in an interview with CBS, answering a question about whether Kyiv had informed the White House that Zaluzhnyi would be dismissed.

"Personnel decisions in the Armed Forces are a matter for the Ukrainian government. This is not something that the US government should interfere with in any way. That's why we stay away from these personnel decisions. And, of course, it is the sovereign right of Ukraine and the right of the President of Ukraine to make his own personnel decisions," Sullivan said.

According to him, the United States "made it clear" that it "does not intend to interfere" in this particular decision regarding the chief of staff, and directly indicated this to the Ukrainians.
