Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary demand from the European Commission impose import duties on Ukrainian grain due to alleged unfair competition. This was stated by Hungarian Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy, citing the press service of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.
According to him, Brussels should take measures to protect the markets of the EU member states adjacent to Ukraine and at the same time provide them with the opportunity to develop their exports. One option is to impose tariffs on the most sensitive agricultural products.
Nagy adds that Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary have adopted a common position aimed at protecting their markets from the negative impact of Ukrainian agricultural exports.
"Therefore, Brussels should also ensure consistent application of EU agricultural standards to all products offered to European consumers. We call on the European Commission to present a report on the compliance of Ukraine's production standards with EU agricultural standards," Nagy said.
