Polish Foreign Minister expresses outrage at comparisons with Russia, but believes in Ukraine's victory

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said that comparisons of Poland with Russia, which appeared in statements by Ukrainian politicians, are extremely offensive to Polish society, and efforts will be needed to restore trust. He wrote this on his Twitter account.

According to Rau, these statements lead to serious changes in the perception of Ukraine and Ukrainians by the Polish people, who previously spontaneously accepted Ukrainian refugees and understood their fate.

"They (statements) lead to a profound rewriting of Polish consciousness about Ukraine and Ukrainians, not only collective, but above all individual," the Polish Foreign Ministry said.

The minister emphasizes that for centuries Poland and Ukraine have been victims of Russian imperialism and subjugation by Russia through violence and repression. Poland's dedication to support Ukraine was made possible by the sympathy and understanding of the fate of the Ukrainian people by every Polish family.

Now Rau considers Ukraine's politics to be harmful, painful and offensive, and thinks that it can harm Ukraine. Nevertheless, he believes in Ukraine's victory and promises support, but emphasizes the importance of restoring trust between the Polish people and the Ukrainian government.
