Japan receives a comprehensive plan to support Ukraine

Japan is actively engaged in the problems of Ukraine and, as expected, will present a comprehensive plan to support the country at the "appropriate time".

This was stated by Kurt Campbell, the coordinator of the White House in the Indo-Pacific region, reports Japan Today.

"Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has an action plan, and he is already actively dealing with the problems of Ukraine," Campbell said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies event.

Last week, Kishida emphasized the importance of countering the Russian invasion, saying that if a unilateral change to the status quo goes unchallenged, the same will happen elsewhere, including in Asia.

"I fully expect that at the appropriate time, Japan will present a concrete plan to support Ukraine in various ways. They are actively participating in many discussions of the contact group on supporting Ukraine and are a key participant in it," the White House coordinator added.

He also emphasized that in recent months, Japan has become more active in a number of issues related to support for Ukraine.

Earlier, the ambassador of Ukraine to Japan said that the country, which will chair the Group of Seven in 2023, can play a key role in the formation of the post-war reconstruction fund for Ukraine.

Earlier in January, it was reported that Japan has allocated $95 million in aid to Ukraine, and these funds will be spent on restoring critical infrastructure and strengthening civil society.

We will remind you that the other day, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed to strengthen G7 cooperation to help Ukraine.
