The USA proposed to develop a mechanism for the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine

The US Department of Justice has asked Congress to allow the use of confiscated Russian assets to support Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the working group of the Ministry of Justice on the application of sanctions against Russia, Andrew Adams, on Tuesday, September 20, during hearings in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

"This proposal would allow the Department of Justice, Treasury and State to work together to recover funds from the U.S. government for damages caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine," he said.

According to him, granting these powers requires amendments to several laws that regulate the use of confiscated funds.
