Ukrainian servicemen, whose bodies were found in one of the mass burial sites in Izyum, were tortured before being killed, said Dmytro Lubynets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
"There is also a place where the bodies of Ukrainian servicemen were found. We already have evidence... I have personally seen it... The boys were tortured before the murder: their hands were tied with ropes behind their backs. And most likely they were tortured before and after they killed him at close range," he said at a briefing on Friday in Kharkiv Oblast.
At the same time, he does not rule out that other similar burials will be discovered.
"You will see a very large burial of the civilian population. For example, there are whole families," the ombudsman added.
